"We all have preconceived ideas of an unseen locale. Usually, it's a romantized, enchanted version we've dreamed or pictured in our minds.

"I look for the essence of a landscape or cityscape and try to bring back the magic that was once there.

"I want my paintings to transcend time and space, like reliving an emotional memory or conjuring up a magical dream, and I strive to have the viewer experience that magic with me."

A recent note from Patricia:
"I have just returned from another research trip. This time I spent a good length of time in Venice, Italy. I have been there before many times but never for an extended visit. The weather decided to cooperate and there was sun (and the resulting shadows) each and every day.

"Venice was the starting point of a great adventure. From there I went to Croatia, Greece, The Ukraine, Bulgaria, Romania and Turkey.

"Right now I am beginning a commission from the Cayman Islands. It will be a large painting of some of the island traditional homes set on the backdrop of white sand, green water and blue sky with the palm trees gently swaying in the tropical breeze.

"Keep an eye out in my personal gallery as I complete new works, you'll be able to see them here first."

Patricia George entered the art world as a child in the performing arts. She studied dance from the best known teachers and began performing professionally in her teens, worked for the motion picture studios, and studied at U.C.L.A. where she received her Bachelor of Arts degree majoring in Dance.

Patricia took her degree and performing experience into the educational world and became a High School teacher for the Los Angeles City School District where she chaired the Dance Department at a local high school.

For Patricia, the principles of art are basic and the natural transition from performing arts to visual arts in composition, color, line, design, contrast, and perspective are used in both dance and in the creation of a painting.

Ms. George is a fervent traveler and spends a portion of every year visiting various foreign countries. She walks the pathways of the villages of Italy, France, Spain, Switzerland, Greece, Japan, Bali and Thailand searching for subject matter to express her impressions of the area.

Her paintings are in the collections of the Hilton Hotel, JC. Pennys, Instar Corporation and Faulding Corp. of Australia. She has private collectors in Canada, Cayman Islands, France, Greece, Japan, The United Arab Republic and the USA.

Patricia has shown in exhibitions in Paris, France, Tokyo and Sapporo Japan, Athens Greece, Montreal and Toronto, Canada. She has participated in shows across the nation from California to New York.

Ms. George's oil paintings have adorned the covers of magazines both in the USA and abroad.

Patricia's latest project was to create a painting of the White House in connection with THE WHITE HOUSE 200th Anniversary. She chose to create an image of THE WHITE HOUSE at its beginning in November, 1800 when it housed its first occupant - President John Adams. This painting appeared in the July 4th 1999 issue of PARADE magazine in an article about Hillary Clinton.
