"I've been very fortunate to have traveled a great deal and had the pleasure of capturing the many faces of the world and the architecture that surrounds them.
"I admire the character I see in a person and in the faces of structures. I strive to evoke those life experiences while playing with light, color and space around them."

Catherine Norman-Pitman has been painting professionally since 1977 and began with a style of work that takes on a form of 'graphic impressionism'. Her acrylic paintings gives one the feeling of looking at the world through louvered windows. Her style plays with black & white and shades of gray contrasted by vivid color, breaking patterns, and empty spaces.
Catherine's award winning, fresh, clean and unique work began shortly before her first one-woman show in 1982 at the Limited Edition Gallery in Beverly Hills, California and has since exhibited her work all over the United States.
Born in Chicago, Illinois, her family moved to Southern California when she was six months old. "I consider myself a native of California even though a lot of my relatives and family ties remain in the midwest." Catherine's artistic talents began to emerge early, and by the time she was in kindergarten she was drawing and coloring everywhere and anything. But as life takes one many places and in many different directions she did not allow her art to blossom fully until many years later after she met her life partner and husband.
Her husband, Doyle, played a significant role in encouraging Catherine to first start painting again, enrolling in College to complete her education in art and taking the first step away from the ordinary to express herself in rich, vibrant color.
In 1990, Catherine broke away from her corporate job to pursue her artwork on a full time basis. She experimented with a fairly new product that when applied to glass would take on the appearance of stained glass. She became engrossed in this new application and actually created the tools she needed to fulfill her amazing creations on hand blown crystal vessels. Further study in her technique brought her to discover the lost art of glass painting hundreds of years ago. Catherine's paintings on crystal have been placed in many fine collections including the Luxor Hotel in Las Vegas, Nevada.
"I enjoy painting on crystal as much as I enjoy my acrylic works. Moving between styles allows my creative ideas to remain fresh."
